Christopher Upchurch, FNP-C CEN
Experience
Chris has extensive experience covering both acute and primary care settings. Prior to joining IndyCare, he was a medical provider at Novant Family Medicine in Harrisburg. The challenges of Covid-19 led him to working in Family Medicine, Infectious Disease and working at multiple Covid-19 sites. Chris has a passion for preventative medicine and healthy lifestyle modifications. Establishing a healthy relationship with his patients built on trust and open communication is important to him.
Education | Professional Career
He started his nursing career in 2006 at a trauma facility in Concord, NC. He continues to maintain his certification in emergency nursing. Later, he transferred to the IV team while in school at East Carolina University to become a Nurse Practitioner. He completed his Family Nurse Practitioner program in 2014. He has worked in family medicine since.
Personal Life
When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children as well as attempting to become a pro saltwater fisherman.
Lauren Cunningham, FNP-C
Experience
Lauren is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She most recently practiced in primary care serving children, teens, and adults and helping her patients manage/treat a multitude of acute and chronic conditions. Her prior nursing experience includes both inpatient and outpatient experience in hospice, oncology and medical/surgery.
Lauren strives to make every patient encounter one where the patient and family feel like their concerns are truly being heard and addressed with kindness, compassion and understanding.Education | Professional Career
Lauren started her career in nursing by completing her associate degree at Cabarrus College of Health Science in 2007. After several years, Lauren’s passion for the nursing profession and love of patient care lead her to pursue higher level nursing degrees including a second undergraduate nursing degree from Cabarrus College of Health Sciences and then her completion of her masters degree through South University in Savannah, GA.
Personal Life
Outside of work, Lauren enjoys spending time with her family including her husband, 2 children and 2 dogs. She loves spending time outdoors including camping, hiking, four wheeling, and kayaking.
Victoria Welch, PA-C
Experience
Board-certified Physician Assistant since 2014 practicing in both pediatrics and family medicine. Speaking both English and Spanish, she enjoys being able to eliminate some of the barriers with patient care created by language differences. She strives to make every patient feel that they are heard and cared for.
Education | Professional Career
After graduating as a double major in Biology and Spanish at Gardner-Webb University, she completed her Master's of Physician Assistant Studies at Wingate University. She first started her professional career in pediatrics at local clinics in Charlotte and in Northern VA before transitioning into Family Medicine with Novant Health locally.
Personal Life
Enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter and their dog, Simba. She most of all loves to travel with her family to various places both domestically and internationally.
Brittney Thompkins, Medical Assistant
Experience
Brittney is a certified medical assistant. Prior to joining IndyCare she worked for 5 years at Rowan Diagnostic Clinic gaining experience in primary care, urgent care, pulmonology and rheumatology.

Brittney is a certified medical assistant. She graduated from Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro North Carolina with an Associate’s Degree in Medical Assisting.
Personal Life
Brittney is a Disney Cinderella fanatic and in her free time enjoys traveling with her two children, her boyfriend and family. Her favorite things in the world are chocolate and coffee!

Josh Dobstaff, Medical Director
Experience
He is also a chief medical officer of DocsInk, LLC, and recently joined IndyCare as Medical Director.Josh has a passion for emerging technologies in medicine such as streamlined communications and telemedicine, and embraces any innovation that blends provider efficiency with improved patient outcomes.

Dr. Josh Dobstaff is board certified in internal medicine and has been a practicing hospitalist forover 6 years.
Personal Life
When not working he enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 boys doing outdoor activities such as running, biking, hiking, and the beach.
