Overview
At IndyCare in Kannapolis, we recognize that successful weight management goes beyond calorie counting—it involves understanding complex metabolic and lifestyle factors unique to each individual. Your metabolism plays a pivotal role in effective weight loss and is influenced by hormones, muscle mass, insulin resistance, exercise, dietary habits, and more.
How does the program work?
Our approach to medical weight loss includes prescribing GLP-1s, specifically semaglutide, a safe and highly effective medication for weight loss. Unlike traditional stimulant-based weight loss medications, semaglutide, known also by the brand name Ozempic, regulates appetite and enhances feelings of fullness without associated side effects like jitteriness or sleep problems. It works in the same way that your body's natural GLP-1 hormones, improving metabolism, prolonging satiety, and reducing cravings for sugar and simple carbs. Moreover, it offers added benefits, such as reducing inflammation and cardiovascular disease risk. However our program isn't just about access to weight loss medications. We provide ongoing clinical management and support including body composition tracking, nutritional counseling, exercise and strength training counseling, follow-up lab diagnostics and monitoring and management of any medication side effects management. All of this is included in the monthly program cost.
Affordable access to semaglutide and tirzepatide
Branded versions of semaglutide or tirzepatide can be prohibitively expensive, costing on average $1,300 - $1,500 per month. It is also not commonly covered by insurance for weight loss. IndyCare offers semaglutide or tirzepatide as part of our program at a significantly reduced cost, ensuring affordability and accessibility for our patients. The total cost of our full weight loss program including consultations, labs, coaching and GLP-1 medication is about 1/3 the cost of the branded medication alone.
How does semaglutide work?
Semaglutide's mechanism includes delaying stomach emptying, prolonging fullness after meals, and reducing food cravings, particularly for sweets. Additionally, it helps lower blood sugar levels, thereby preventing excess blood sugar from converting into body fat. While this class of medications has been shown to be relatively safe overall, it is important to have your treatment closely monitored by medical professionals to assess and manage potential symptoms and side effects of these medications.
